Lake Tyrell
Lake Tyrrell, located in the far outskirts of Melbourne, is about a 4.5-hour drive away (370 km) to the northwest. It is a freshwater salt lake and also the largest salt lake within the state of Victoria, covering an area of approximately 208 square kilometers. Known for its unique landscape and the phenomenon of the "Sky Mirror," it is an ideal destination for stargazing, offering a dreamlike experience of the starry night sky.
The name "Tyrrell" originates from the Australian indigenous word "tyrille," which means sky/space.
Lake Tyrrell, hidden deep within Australia, serves as a Sky Mirror, where the lake's surface mirrors the sky, creating a surreal ambiance. During the golden hours, the gentle glow of the setting sun softly blankets the lake, illuminating everything around with a magnificent and enchanting atmosphere. Here, every moment seems frozen in eternity, with the blue skies and white clouds of daytime and the star-studded night sky creating a spectacular scene that feels like a realm of wonder.
